EDUCATION

A native of Barletta, Italy, he received his degree, summa cum laude, from the university of Bari where he also completed his training and his fellowship in nephrology before moving to the United States in 1974.

SOME DATE
  • In 2007, he founded ISSNAF (Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation) and has been its President until 2019, and Honorary President till present.
  • In 2020, he authored “A Thousand Quotes and Anecdotes that May Improve Your Life” and in 2024, he authored the third edition of the book “The world as seen by a doctor: Aphorisms and thoughts”.
  • In 2024, the University of Southern California has bestowed upon Dr. Campese the honor of renaming the Kidney Research Center, to Vito M. Campese, MD/UKRO Kidney Research Center of USC.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Nephrology and a Specialist in Hypertension;
  • He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Hypertension, the International Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Hypertension;
  • He has authored over 320 scientific articles and lectured extensively worldwide;
  • He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Hypertension and has served on the Editorial Board of several other medical journals, such as Hypertension, Clinical Nephrology, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, the American Journal of Nephrology, Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation, among others.
  • He is Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy in recognition of his work on preservation and promotion of national heritage abroad and promoting friendly relations and co-operation between the USA and Italy.
